CPQ for metal product manufacturers

Configure complex metal products. Quote with confidence.

Bring dimensions, materials, finishes, options and pricing rules into one guided sales process. Help your team quote configurable metal products without rebuilding every specification in spreadsheets.

Illustrative configurable product example. Mercura does not import DXF or calculate laser cycle times.

One configurable metal product. Many commercial decisions.

Equipment, structural and fabricated product families often combine dimensions, materials, finishes and accessories in a single offer.

  1. 01

    Dimensions

Width, height, depth or length ranges you publish for each product family.

  2. 02

    Material

Grades, thicknesses and finishes available for that family.

  3. 03

    Modules

Doors, panels, mounting kits or optional sub-assemblies.

  4. 04

    Commercial rules

Pricing, discounts and document output tied to the configuration.

Every material, dimension and option affects what comes next.

Mercura applies ranges, compatibility and dependencies you define in the catalogue. It does not calculate structural strength or replace manufacturing engineering.

Dimension
Only combinations within the range you publish.
Finish
Treatments compatible with the selected material.
Module
Required or optional accessories from your matrix.

What Mercura is not for metal fabrication

Worth stating alongside configurable product quoting.

  • Not DXF or CAM

Mercura does not import drawing geometry, nest sheet metal or post machine programs.

  • Not structural sign-off

Load ratings and weld procedures stay with your engineering team.

  • Can reflect your rates

Operation or material costs can feed pricing when you model them as product rules or integrations.

From customer requirements to a structured quotation.

  1. 01 Capture application and environment.
  2. 02 Select the metal product family.
  3. 03 Configure supported dimensions and variants.
  4. 04 Apply dependencies between options.
  5. 05 Calculate configured commercial pricing.
  6. 06 Generate quotation documents.

Lindab configures garage doors with product rules.

Lindab's published configurator guides dimensions, finishes and options within the manufacturer's catalogue. It is an example of a configurable metal product, not automatic quoting from DXF geometry.

Two reps quoting the same configurable metal product

Spreadsheet quotes

  • Each rep rebuilds dimensions and options in a different workbook.
  • Finish compatibility is checked from memory, not from the catalogue.
  • Accessories are added after the customer already compared a base price.
  • Dealer and direct prices diverge because rules live in separate files.

With Mercura CPQ

  • Sales selects the product family and supported dimensions in one guided flow.
  • Material and finish rules block combinations you have not approved.
  • Modules and accessories stay attached to the configuration on the quote.
  • The same pricing rules apply for direct sales and distribution.

More consistent quotes for metal products.

  • Variants and accessories aligned with the approved catalogue.
  • Less manual rebuilding in spreadsheets.
  • Product rules visible before the offer is sent.
  • Commercial pricing applied uniformly.
  • Same commercial process for direct sales and dealers.

Questions from metal product manufacturers

Can Mercura configure metal products with variable dimensions?

Yes, when you model families with parametric dimensions and allowed ranges in the product catalogue Mercura uses for quoting.

How are material and finish compatibility rules handled?

You define which finishes apply to which materials and variants. Mercura applies those dependencies during configuration so incompatible combinations do not reach the quote.

Can Mercura price custom product variants?

Yes. Pricing can follow the attributes and options in the configuration, using commercial rules and rate tables you maintain.

Does Mercura automatically calculate fabrication costs from DXF files?

No. Mercura is CPQ software for configurable products. It does not analyse DXF geometry or calculate laser, bend or weld cycle times. If you already have costing data, it can participate in pricing through rules or integrations you implement.

Can Mercura integrate with ERP or manufacturing systems?

Mercura supports integrations with ERP, CRM and other systems depending on your implementation. Configured product data and quotes can flow to downstream systems after the commercial configuration is accepted.
