ERP Integration for CPQ
Order accepted in CPQ. Someone still re-enters the BOM in SAP. Connect Mercura to your ERP so accepted orders, configuration detail, and BOM lines reach finance and production without a second pass.
The challenge
Order accepted in CPQ. Someone still re-enters the BOM in SAP.
A manufacturer of industrial batch ovens for metal heat treatment runs SAP for production and finance and Mercura for configuration and quotes. Inside sales accepts an order for a chamber size, heating zone layout, and exhaust package the customer signed on the PDF. Operations opens SAP and asks order entry to translate the CPQ configuration into a sales order with BOM lines, quantities, and plant assignment by hand.
A sub-assembly quantity copied wrong becomes a material shortage on the shop floor. Ship-to address retyped from the quote PDF carries a transcription error. Product management updates a price in SAP but the CPQ catalog still shows last month's list until someone remembers to sync. Each accepted order waits on a manual bridge between systems that sales thought was already done.
CRM integration updates opportunity value when quote status changes. PIM integration feeds marketing attributes into the catalog. Multi-level BOM configuration generates hierarchy inside CPQ before acceptance. ERP integration is different: Mercura pulls product and pricing master from ERP, then transmits the accepted order with configuration data, BOM lines, and customer fields into SAP or Dynamics when the quote converts.
Inquiry to config to price to approval to order should hand finance and production an ERP sales order, not a PDF that order entry must reinterpret.

How it works
How Mercura integrates with ERP
IT and sales ops connect Mercura to SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, or other ERP platforms through pre-built connectors and field mapping. Product master and pricing conditions sync from ERP to Mercura on a defined schedule or when records change. Reps configure and quote against current ERP data. When a quote is accepted, Mercura creates or updates the sales order in ERP with line items, configuration output, BOM structure, and customer master references. Stock or availability signals from ERP can surface during configuration where mapped. Someone must define mapping rules, monitor integration errors, and decide which plants and legal entities receive which order types.
What's included
What ERP integration covers
- Connectors for SAP, Dynamics 365, Business Central, and others
- Product master sync from ERP into Mercura
- Pricing condition sync on schedule or record change
- Sales order transmission when quote is accepted
- Configuration and BOM lines included on ERP order
- Customer master references on order creation
- Availability signals during configuration where mapped
- Integration monitoring and error logging
The difference
CPQ and ERP before and after integration
- Accepted orders re-entered line by line in ERP
- BOM and configuration translated from quote PDFs
- CPQ catalog drifts from ERP product master
- Transcription errors on addresses and quantities
- Production start waits on order entry backlog
- Accepted quote creates ERP sales order automatically
- Configuration and BOM lines attached to order
- Product and pricing data sourced from ERP master
- Customer and ship-to fields mapped without retyping
- Operations starts from ERP order matching CPQ acceptance
Real-world application
Example workflow: SAP orders for batch ovens
A builder of industrial batch ovens for heat treatment plants accepted configured orders in Mercura but had order entry rebuild BOM lines and quantities in SAP for every job. Material release delayed while someone checked the CPQ PDF against the sales order. After Mercura ERP integration with SAP, accepted quotes create sales orders with configuration output and BOM hierarchy attached, and production planning opens the same order operations already saw in CPQ.
Business impact
Why ERP integration is order handoff, not a data dump
ERP integration closes the gap between what sales accepts in CPQ and what finance and production execute in ERP. It complements CRM opportunity sync, multi-level BOM configuration, deal configuration, and automated quote generation. Mercura does not replace SAP or Dynamics as your system of record for inventory, manufacturing execution, or financial posting rules. Someone must own field mapping and monitor failed transmissions. If the pain is "CPQ shows accepted but SAP still waits for manual order entry", ERP integration aligns inquiry, configuration, price, approval, and order with the system that releases material and recognises revenue.
